THE ALGORITHMIC MAJORITIES PROJECT
I’m a PhD student at the Australian National University, where I’m researching how data, biometrics, and AI systems get tangled up with colonial, gendered, and racial power structures. I’m especially interested in the socio-political agendas behind digital identity and national AI projects in the "majority world," with a specific focus on India.
Before starting my PhD, I practiced as a privacy and tech lawyer in Australia across private and public sectors. I hold an MPhil in Ethics of AI, Data and Algorithms from the University of Cambridge and a combined Science/Law degree from the University of Queensland.
I grew up in Kolkata, India and moved to Brisbane, Australia as a teenager, so I’ve called both places home. To switch off from the heavy research, I’m usually reading, playing cricket, trying to learn French or testing my luck at weekly pub trivia. I also definitely watch way too much TV.
I'm a researcher and consultant exploring how emerging technologies intersect with social inequality and human rights. My work looks at how algorithmic systems shape everyday life for minoritized groups: from reproductive justice to who gets heard (and who gets sidelined) in digital information spaces.
Before focusing on AI ethics, I spent seven years working across Latin America in research and consultancy on gender equality and diversity. I studied Psychology at the Universidad de los Andes and later completed the MPhil in Ethics of AI, Data and Algorithms at the University of Cambridge.
I'm originally from Bogotá, Colombia, and have also lived in Mexico and the UK. These days, I move between the three. Outside of work, you'll usually find me at live concerts, playing tennis, or trying (with mixed results) to learn the saxophone.
I am a researcher interested in philosophy and the ethics of AI. I hold an MPhil in Ethics of AI, Data and Algorithms from the University of Cambridge and a BA in Philosophy from the University of Bristol. I am currently affiliated with the non-profit PRISM.
I live in London and enjoy hanging out with friends at the Heath.
I'm a high school math teacher, researcher, and writer living in Washington, DC. I hold an MPhil in the Ethics of AI, Data, and Algorithms from the University of Cambridge and an integrated Bachelor of Science (IDEAS) from Lehigh University.
My research has focused on disability justice and medical surveillance. I am particularly interested in the social and ethical implications of current data and algorithmic practices -- how do they impact (in)equality, (in)convenience, the earth, and how we treat ourselves and each other?
In my down time I write science fiction and hang out with my cat.
I'm a PhD student at the Oxford Internet Institute, where my research focuses on the ethics of technologically facilitated simulations of gendered violence, including rape simulator video games or intimate partner violence role-play with chatbots.
I'm originally from Hamburg, Germany, and moved to the UK to study Philosophy, Politics and Economics (BSc) at King's College London. During this degree, I spent a semester at the National University of Singapore, where I first became interested in the philosophy of technology. Later, I completed an MPhil in Ethics of AI, Data and Algorithms at the University of Cambridge - where I met the rest of the team.
To counterbalance the occasionally infuriating nature of my research, I like to spend my free time on restorative activities like knitting, cooking and yoga.
I'm a mathematician by nature and social scientist by training. My work focuses upon the interdependent development of society and technology. I recieved my MPhil in the Ethics of AI and BA in Politics & International Relations at the University of Cambridge. I currently work as an AI Risk Advisor at the AI Security Institute in London.
I also enjoy cooking and hosting get-togethers with friends.
